Just Start LA Terms of Service

Last updated: October 15, 2026 · Version 1.0

1. About these Terms

1.1 Who these Terms are between

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Just Start LA, Inc., a California corporation ("Just Start LA", "we", "us" or "our"). Our address is 4505 Las Virgenes Road, Suite 107, Calabasas, CA 91302.

"You" means the person who creates or holds an account on juststartla.com. If you are a parent or legal guardian, "you" also means you acting on behalf of each student in your household.

1.2 What these Terms cover

These Terms cover the website at juststartla.com, your account, and everything you buy or book online. That includes single sessions, monthly memberships, workshops, waitlist places and standing weekly spots.

1.3 How these Terms fit with a Client Services Agreement

Some families have also signed a Client Services Agreement with us. That agreement covers one to one executive function coaching and academic tutoring, and the invoicing for those services. If you have not signed one, it does not apply to you, and these Terms are the whole agreement between us.

If you have signed one, these rules decide which document controls:

  1. For one to one coaching and tutoring, and the invoicing for it, the Client Services Agreement controls.
  2. For your account, the website, and anything you buy or book online, these Terms control. That includes single sessions, memberships, workshops, cancellation of online bookings, and refunds of online payments.
  3. Where both documents could apply, the document that governs the service you bought controls for that service. A membership is governed by these Terms, even if you also receive one to one coaching.
  4. Where neither document clearly applies, the more specific provision controls.
  5. Nothing in these Terms reduces a right you already have under the Client Services Agreement.

1.4 Accepting these Terms

You accept these Terms when you create an account, and again each time you buy something. We record which version you accepted, and when.

1.5 Other documents

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. Before a student's first session, we also ask you to complete a participation and consent form for that student, which includes a liability waiver. Each of these is a separate document with its own version. When you accept one, it forms part of your agreement with us.

2. Accounts

2.1 Who may hold an account

An account holder must be at least 18 years old. If you are a parent or legal guardian, you hold the account for your household.

A student aged 13 to 17 may have their own login. A guardian creates it by inviting the student from the guardian's account. The student's login sits under the guardian's household.

A child under 13 may not have a login of any kind. If your child is under 13, you book, pay and manage everything from your own account. Your child's profile still exists in your household, and your child still attends sessions. Your child just does not sign in.

Only a parent or guardian, or a student aged 18 or older, may pay for anything.

2.2 Your household

Your account holds a household: one or more guardians, and one or more student profiles. A student profile carries the student's name, grade, date of birth, and the contact details you give us.

You can add a second guardian to your household. A second guardian can see and do the same things as you, for the students in that household.

2.3 Accurate information

Give us accurate information and keep it current. We rely on it for scheduling, for safety, and for billing. Date of birth matters most. It decides whether a student may have a login.

2.4 Signing in and account security

There is no password. You sign in with your Google account, with a one time sign in link emailed to you, or with a six digit code emailed to you.

This means that whoever can read your email can sign in as you. Keep your email account secure. Do not forward a sign in link or a code to anyone, and do not share your login. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens on your account, except where the law says otherwise.

If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, your email address and your profile picture. We do not give Google your bookings, your attendance or anything about your student.

2.5 What a guardian can see and do

Please read this part with your teen.

A guardian in the household can:

  • see and edit the student's profile, including the notes we keep;
  • see every session the student has booked, attended, cancelled or missed;
  • see the student's membership, the sessions it includes, and the sessions used in each period;
  • book and cancel sessions for the student;
  • buy single sessions and memberships, and cancel a membership;
  • accept the participation and consent form for the student;
  • add or remove a second guardian.

A student login can book and cancel sessions within a membership that a guardian has bought. A student login cannot pay for anything. If a student needs more sessions, the student can ask a guardian, and we pass that request on.

A student's account is not private from the guardians in the household. A guardian can see what the student does on this platform. We tell a student this when they first sign in.

2.6 Our staff

Our staff can see your household records, because that is how we deliver the service. We keep an internal log of staff actions.

A senior staff member can sign in to the platform as you, to help with a problem. When that happens, the system records it.

2.7 Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account for non payment, for conduct covered by Sections 3.6 or 10, or where we believe a student's safety is at risk. We will tell you why.

You may close your account at any time by emailing juststartla@gmail.com. Closing your account does not by itself refund anything. Section 7 covers refunds.

3. Booking a session

3.1 Seats and booking

Each session has a fixed number of seats. In person seats and virtual seats are counted separately. When the seats are gone, the session is full.

Reservations are required. Book online up to two weeks ahead. Booking is first come, first served. A membership does not reserve a seat for you.

We run Lock In Hour sessions several days every week. There are no blackout days. Every scheduled session is open to book. If you cannot find a time that works, contact us and we will work with you.

3.2 Waitlists

When a session is full, you can join the waitlist.

For Lock In Hour and other programs booked through a membership, the waitlist moves automatically. When a seat opens, we go down the list in the order people joined. The first student who has a session available in an active membership gets the seat. We book it, count it against that membership period, and email you.

If a student ahead of you on the list has no membership session available, we skip that student for that seat and email them to say so. We send that email at most once a day. This means a seat can pass you by if you have no membership session available when it opens.

For workshops, the waitlist works differently. When a place opens, we email everyone on the workshop waitlist, and the first family to register takes it. We do not book workshop places automatically.

3.3 Standing weekly spots

A standing weekly spot holds the same time each week for one student. As soon as each week opens for booking, we book that week automatically and use one session from the student's membership.

A standing spot does not hold a seat if the student has no membership session available. In that case, we email you and the seat stays open for someone else.

You can cancel a standing spot from your account. This does not cancel sessions already booked under it. Cancel those separately. Section 7 applies to each one.

3.4 Where sessions happen

You choose one of these when you book:

  • In person at 4505 Las Virgenes Road, Suite 107, Calabasas, CA 91302.
  • Virtually on Google Meet. We email the join link to the family who booked. We do not publish it on the website.

Keep the join link to yourself. Do not share a session link or your sign in details with anyone outside your household.

We use Google Meet only as a meeting room. We do not send your bookings, your attendance or your student's records to Google Meet.

If we change the virtual platform, we will tell you before your next session.

3.5 Arriving and leaving

Arrive on time. A session starts and ends at its scheduled time. Arriving late does not extend it.

For in person sessions, a guardian is responsible for drop off and pick up. Do not leave a student at the office outside their booked session.

For every in person session with a student under 18, a parent or an authorized adult must be reachable by phone for the whole session. Make sure the phone number on your account is the right number to call. When you book an in person session, we ask you to confirm it.

3.6 Conduct

We expect every student and every guardian to:

  • treat staff and other families with respect;
  • let other students work without disruption;
  • follow staff instructions about the room, equipment and safety;
  • keep virtual sessions usable, with a quiet, appropriate background and a muted microphone when not speaking (a camera is not required);
  • not record a session, in person or virtual, without our written permission.

We will not record a session without your prior written consent.

We may remove a student from a session, and we may decline future bookings, for conduct that disrupts other students or puts anyone at risk. The first time we remove a student, we return that session as a one time courtesy: a membership session does not count against the period, and a single session is refunded to your card. After that, a session that ends this way counts as used and is not refunded.

3.7 Mandated reporting

All of our staff are mandated reporters under California's Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. If a staff member reasonably suspects child abuse or neglect, they must report it. That duty comes before any promise of confidentiality, in these Terms or anywhere else.

3.8 When we cancel a session

We may cancel a session because of staff illness, weather, a facility problem, or too few bookings. If we cancel, you lose nothing:

  • a single session is refunded in full to your card;
  • a membership session does not count against that monthly period, and you can book another session before the period's Last Date of Use.

If we cancel a membership session in the last 7 days of a monthly period, we add one replacement session to your next period for each session we cancelled.

4. What you can buy

You pay through Stripe Checkout. Stripe processes your card. We never see or store your card number.

The prices below apply on the date these Terms were last updated. Current prices are shown on the program page. The price shown when you buy is the price you pay.

What you buy Price What it includes
Single session $45, paid once. Introductory price $40 through January 31, 2027 One seat at one one hour Lock In Hour session you choose
Just Start membership $280 per month 8 one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period
Keep Going membership $395 per month 12 one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period
All In membership $480 per month Unlimited one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period, up to 1 per day

We do not sell packs of sessions or new-client offers.

4.1 A single session

A single session is one seat at one specific Lock In Hour session, which you choose when you buy. It costs $45. Until January 31, 2027, it sells at a $40 introductory price. From February 1, 2027, the price is $45. We may end or extend the introductory price. The price shown when you pay is the price you are charged. You pay once. There is no subscription.

A single session does not expire. You are paying for a specific session, not a balance.

There is no limit on how many single sessions a student may buy.

4.2 A monthly membership

A membership gives the student a set level of service in each monthly period. It is not a balance, a set of credits, or stored value.

A membership renews automatically each month until you cancel. When you cancel, the membership ends at the end of the period you have paid for. Section 6 covers renewal and cancellation.

Each monthly period has a Last Date of Use: the day before the next renewal date. Sessions not used by then do not carry over and are not refunded. Section 5 explains this.

4.3 A workshop

A workshop is a single paid event on a set date. It is not a membership or a subscription. You register and pay for that event only. Each workshop page shows that workshop's cancellation and refund window.

4.4 Purchases belong to one student

A single session or a membership is bought for one named student, not for the household. A sibling cannot use it.

5. Purchase terms, Last Date of Use, and gift cards

5.1 Not a gift card

This is not a dollar-value gift card.

Nothing you buy from us is a gift card, a gift certificate, or a stored dollar balance. A single session is one seat at one session. A membership is a monthly service allowance. Neither holds a dollar value that you can spend on something else or give to someone else. We give refunds only as Section 7 sets out.

5.2 Last Date of Use

For a membership, each monthly period is a package that you buy as a single transaction.

The Last Date of Use for a monthly period is the day before the next renewal date, in Los Angeles time. For example, if a period renews on November 14, its Last Date of Use is November 13.

Use the sessions in a period by its Last Date of Use. Sessions not used by then do not carry over to the next period and are not refunded. This is the agreement that the discounted price rests on. It is subject to all applicable law.

A single session has no Last Date of Use. It is a seat at the session you chose, and it does not expire.

5.3 Membership purchase terms

Before you buy a membership, we show you its purchase terms. We show them again on your receipt email. They list:

  • Package: the membership and what each monthly period includes.
  • Discounted price: the price per monthly period.
  • Regular price: the regular price of one session, and the regular price of the same number of sessions.
  • Purchase date: on the receipt, the date you bought.
  • Last Date of Use: before you buy, "The day before each renewal date. If you join today, your first Last Date of Use is" followed by the date. On the receipt, the date itself, followed by "This is the day before your next renewal date."
  • The three terms below.

These three terms read, word for word:

Terms of Discounted Price. The membership is offered at a reduced price based on your agreement to buy each monthly period as a single transaction and to use all included sessions by the Last Date of Use. Unused sessions do not carry over to the next period. Any Last Date of Use provision is subject to all applicable law.

Scheduling. Reservations are required. Book online up to two weeks ahead. Just Start LA runs sessions several days every week and will provide reasonable opportunities to schedule and cancel your included sessions before the Last Date of Use. If you cannot find a time that works, contact us and we will work with you.

Gift card. This is not a dollar-value gift card.

For each membership, the package and price lines read:

Membership Package Discounted price Regular price
Just Start 8 one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period. $280 per monthly period. $40 per session ($320 for 8 sessions) through January 31, 2027. $45 per session ($360 for 8 sessions) from February 1, 2027.
Keep Going 12 one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period. $395 per monthly period. $40 per session ($480 for 12 sessions) through January 31, 2027. $45 per session ($540 for 12 sessions) from February 1, 2027.
All In Unlimited one hour Lock In Hour sessions each monthly period, up to 1 per day. $480 per monthly period. $40 per session through January 31, 2027. $45 per session from February 1, 2027.

The Stripe Checkout page shows a shorter form of these terms. It includes the price, the renewal, the Last Date of Use, that unused sessions do not carry over, that reservations are required, and the sentence "This is not a dollar-value gift card." Each renewal receipt states the Last Date of Use for the new period.

5.4 Single session purchase terms

Before you buy a single session, we show you these terms. We show them again on your receipt email. They read, word for word:

Package. One seat at the one hour Lock In Hour session you chose, for $40 (introductory price through January 31, 2027; $45 after that).

Expiry. None. You are paying for a specific session, not a balance.

Cancelling. Cancel more than 24 hours before the session for a full refund of the amount you paid, to your card. Cancel within 24 hours, or miss it, and nothing is refunded.

Gift card. This is not a dollar-value gift card.

6. Memberships and automatic renewal

Please read this section before you buy a membership.

6.1 Membership terms

Your membership renews automatically every month until you cancel.

We charge the monthly price to your saved card at the start of each monthly period. The price is shown before you buy.

There is no end date and no minimum number of months. You can cancel at any time.

The price may change. We will email you before any change takes effect, and no change applies to a period you have already paid for. Section 8 covers price changes.

Each monthly period includes the sessions your membership describes. Each monthly period's Last Date of Use is the day before the next renewal date. Unused sessions do not carry over to the next period and are not refunded.

To cancel: sign in, go to Account, then Students, and press "Cancel at period end" on the membership card. That is the whole process. Your membership then ends at the end of the period you have already paid for. You can keep using that period's sessions until its Last Date of Use, and nothing is charged after that. You can also cancel by emailing juststartla@gmail.com or calling 818-835-2565.

6.2 Your consent to automatic renewal

Before you pay for a membership, we show you the renewal terms above the pay button. We also ask you to tick a separate box that states the monthly price. For Just Start, it reads "I agree to be charged $280 every month until I cancel." The box is not ticked for you. You cannot buy a membership without it. We keep a record of what we showed you and what you agreed to.

6.3 After you buy

After you buy a membership, we email you an acknowledgement. It restates the renewal terms, the cancellation policy and how to cancel, with a direct link to the cancel button.

Your account always shows your membership's name, status, next renewal date and monthly price, and the "Cancel at period end" button.

At least once a year, we email each active member a reminder of their plan, the current monthly charge, and how to cancel.

6.4 Restarting a cancelled membership

If you cancel and then change your mind before the period ends, you can restart the membership with the "Manage" button on the membership card, which opens the Stripe billing portal.

6.5 Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we tell you, and your membership shows as past due. You keep the sessions you have already booked, but you cannot book new ones until the payment goes through. If the payment does not go through within 10 days, we may end the membership.

7. Cancellation, no shows and refunds

7.1 The cancellation rule

Single session. Cancel more than 24 hours before the session for a full refund of the amount you paid, to your card. Cancel within 24 hours, or miss it, and nothing is refunded.

Membership session. Cancel more than 24 hours before the session and it does not count against your monthly period. Cancel within 24 hours, or miss it, and it counts as used.

The 24 hour window applies to Lock In Hour and to the other sessions booked on this website. The deadline for each session is shown when you book it and in your account.

What happens Single session Membership session
You cancel more than 24 hours before Full refund of the amount you paid, to your card Does not count against your period. Book another before the Last Date of Use
You cancel within 24 hours Not refunded. No fee Counts as used. No fee
You do not show up Not refunded. No fee Counts as used. No fee
We cancel the session Full refund to your card (Section 3.8) Does not count against your period (Section 3.8)

7.2 How to cancel a session

Cancel from your account. If you cannot sign in, email juststartla@gmail.com or call 818-835-2565 before the deadline.

7.3 No shows

If a booked student does not attend and did not cancel in time, the session is a no show. There is no no show fee. Losing the session is the only consequence.

What you bought What a no show means
Single session The session is not refunded
Just Start or Keep Going membership The session counts as used in that monthly period
All In membership That day's session is used. Nothing more is charged
Workshop The refund window on the workshop page applies

There is no cancellation fee and no no show fee for anything booked on this website. Losing the session is the only consequence of a late cancellation or a no show.

7.4 Refunds

Single sessions. Refunded to your card as Section 7.1 sets out.

Memberships. We do not refund a monthly period that has already started, and we do not refund unused sessions. You can cancel at any time. The membership then ends at the end of the period you paid for, and you can use that period's sessions until its Last Date of Use.

Workshops. Cancel inside the refund window shown on the workshop page and we refund you in full. Cancel after that, or after the workshop has started, and we do not refund.

If something goes wrong on our side. If we take your money and you do not get what you paid for, or we cancel a session and cannot reschedule you, we refund you. This includes a membership charge made in error. Tell us and we will put it right.

7.5 Ending the relationship

Either of us can end the relationship. To do so, cancel any membership under Section 6 and close your account under Section 2.7. Refunds follow Section 7.4.

8. Price changes

We may change our prices. When we do:

  • A change never applies to something you have already paid for. A single session you have bought keeps its price. A membership period you have paid for is not repriced.
  • Prices on the website can change at any time for future purchases. A single session costs the price shown on the day you buy it.
  • For a membership, we email you at least 30 days before the new price takes effect. We do not charge the new price until you agree to it. If you do not agree, we do not charge the new price, and your membership ends at the end of the period you have already paid for. You can also cancel at any time before the change.

We never treat continued use of a membership as agreement to a new price.

9. Communications

9.1 Service email

When you have an account, we send you email about the service. This includes sign in links, booking confirmations, cancellations, reminders, waitlist updates, invitations, receipts, and messages about your sessions or your membership. These emails are part of the service. You cannot turn them off and keep using the platform.

9.2 Marketing email

We do not send marketing email from this platform. Your account has a marketing preference box. Ticking it records your preference only.

If we start to send marketing email, we will:

  • send it only to people who have opted in;
  • include a working unsubscribe link in every message, and honor an unsubscribe within 10 business days;
  • include our postal address in every message;
  • send it only to guardian email addresses, never to a student's own address.

9.3 Text messages

We do not send text messages. We keep phone numbers to contact you about a session and to spot duplicate accounts.

9.4 How we contact you

We use the email address on your account. Keep it current.

10. Acceptable use and intellectual property

10.1 Acceptable use

Do not:

  • share your login, or let anyone else use your account;
  • use someone else's account;
  • give us false information about a student's age, identity or household;
  • interfere with the platform, try to get around its limits, or try to access data that is not yours;
  • scrape, copy or republish the website or its content;
  • record a session without our written permission;
  • use the platform to harass anyone.

We may suspend an account for any of the above.

10.2 Our materials

We own what we make. All educational materials, curricula, tools, strategies, frameworks and content that we create, develop or provide are and remain our sole and exclusive property. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property right to you.

We give you a personal, non transferable, non exclusive and revocable license to use the educational materials we give you, solely for your own or your student's own educational purposes.

Do not reproduce, distribute, sell, license or otherwise exploit any of our educational materials for any commercial purpose. Do not share them with anyone outside your household.

We revoke this license only if you break this Section 10.2. If we revoke it, you must stop further use and sharing of our materials. We will not ask you to destroy material that a student is actively using for their own learning.

10.3 What you and your student submit

Your student's work stays your student's work. You and your student keep all rights in your existing materials and in your student's own original work, including homework, essays and projects. We claim no ownership of any of it.

You also give us information so that we can run the service, such as a student's name, grade, date of birth, contact details, goals, requests and messages. You keep whatever rights you have in it. You allow us to use it only to deliver the service to you, which includes our staff reading it. We do not use it for anything else.

If we want to use a student's work as an example, we will ask you first, in writing.

Do not put anything in a free text field that you would not want our staff to read. Think carefully before you enter a medical diagnosis, a medication or a clinician's name. If we need that information, we will ask you for it directly.

10.4 Names and likenesses

We may describe our work in a portfolio or case study. We will not use a student's name, photograph or likeness without your express written permission.

11. Accessibility

We want every family to be able to use this website and book a session. We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

If something does not work for you, email juststartla@gmail.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line, or call 818-835-2565. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We will acknowledge your message within 2 business days and give you a full response within 10 business days. In the meantime, we will book your session for you by phone or email, so that nothing stops you taking part.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

12.1 What we do and do not promise

We provide coaching and tutoring. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY SPECIFIC ACADEMIC OUTCOME, SCORE IMPROVEMENT, DIAGNOSIS, BEHAVIORAL CHANGE, OR OTHER RESULT. Progress depends on the student.

We are not a medical, psychological or diagnostic service. We do not diagnose and we do not treat. If a student needs clinical support, speak to a qualified professional.

The website and platform are provided as they are. We do not promise that they will always be available or free of faults. Sessions depend on services we do not control, including Google Meet, Stripe, and your own internet connection.

12.2 Students under 18

We provide educational services, not custodial care, medical treatment, or therapeutic services. Our responsibility for supervising a student under 18 is limited to the exercise of reasonable care during the scheduled session. Section 3.5 sets out the drop off, pick up and reachable adult rules.

12.3 Limit on what we owe

Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

This limit does not apply to:

  • willful misconduct;
  • gross negligence;
  • breach of confidentiality;
  • anything the law does not allow us to limit.

12.4 Physical injury

These Terms do not ask you to waive any claim for physical injury. The participation and consent form described in Section 1.5 is a separate document.

12.5 Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs that arise from:

  • your breach of these Terms;
  • misuse of our educational materials, contrary to Section 10.2;
  • the negligence or willful misconduct of you or your student.

We agree to indemnify you against claims, losses and reasonable costs that arise from our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Each of us will tell the other promptly about any claim covered by this section, and will cooperate in handling it.

13. Dispute resolution

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT REQUIRES ARBITRATION OF MOST DISPUTES, AND IT MEANS YOU GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO TAKE PART IN A CLASS ACTION. YOU CAN OPT OUT UNDER SECTION 13.5.

13.1 Talk to us first

If something goes wrong, email juststartla@gmail.com and tell us. We will both spend 30 days trying in good faith to resolve it.

13.2 Mediation

If the dispute is not resolved within those 30 days, we both agree to try mediation before anything else. We share the mediator's fee equally, unless we agree otherwise.

13.3 Arbitration

If mediation does not resolve the dispute, it goes to binding arbitration before the American Arbitration Association, under its applicable rules, in Los Angeles County, California. The arbitrator's decision is final, and a court can enter it as a judgment.

Each side pays its own costs and attorney's fees, unless the arbitrator awards fees.

Either of us can still go to court for an injunction to stop immediate harm. Either of us can also bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

13.4 No class actions

You and we each bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not combine claims of more than one person.

13.5 Your right to opt out

You can opt out of arbitration and the class action waiver within 30 days after you first accept these Terms. To opt out, email juststartla@gmail.com with "Arbitration opt out" in the subject line, and include your name and the email address on your account. If you opt out, the rest of these Terms still apply to you.

13.6 Severability

If any part of this Section 13 cannot be enforced against a particular person or claim, including a claim by a student under 18, that part does not apply to that person or claim. The rest of this Section 13 still applies, including to the guardian who accepted these Terms.

14. Governing law and venue

California law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict of laws rules. Subject to Section 13, the state and federal courts in Los Angeles County, California have exclusive jurisdiction.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. When we do:

  • we post the new version on juststartla.com with a new "Last updated" date;
  • for a material change, we email the address on your account at least 30 days before it takes effect, and we tell you what changed. A material change is any change to prices, renewal, cancellation, refunds, the Last Date of Use or dispute resolution;
  • the version in force when you bought something governs that purchase. A later change does not rewrite a single session, a membership period or a workshop you have already paid for;
  • if you keep using the platform after a change takes effect, you accept the new version. This does not apply to a change to your membership price or your automatic renewal terms. For those, we ask for your agreement again and do not charge any new amount until you agree.

If you do not accept a change, cancel any membership under Section 6 and close your account under Section 2.7. Any refund you are owed follows Section 7.4.
