Our tutors are selected with much thought. Each individual on our team is trusted to give your child the resources they need to succeed. During the selection process, our team has them complete a comprehensive background check, reviews their resumes and transcripts to make sure they have excelled in their academics, checks their references, and they are asked detailed questions regarding their personal and professional background.

Hi everyone! I’m Sophie, and I’m excited to begin working with the JUST START LA team. I’m from the Los Angeles area and recently returned after five years in Ann Arbor, MI, where I completed my degree in Biopsychology. While there, I worked as a cancer research assistant and a pediatric medical assistant, all with the goal of becoming a physician. Outside of my academic and career goals, I enjoy hiking, puzzles, spending time with family and friends, and the beach. I’m looking forward to connecting with students, boosting their confidence in their academic abilities, and helping them succeed!

Hello! My name is Risa Gough and I am currently in my 5th year at CSUN! I am a psychology major with a biology minor, with hopes of becoming a dermatology PA! In my free time I love to travel, read, and go out with my friends. I know math is a challenging subject for many, and I look forward to helping you navigate your courses!

Hi! I’m Sophia and I am super excited to be working with the JUST START LA team. I am from New Jersey and recently returned to the area after living in Harrisonburg, Virginia for four years where I attended James Madison University and received a degree in Biology. While attending James Madison, I worked as a biochemistry research assistant, chemistry tutor, and a bio/chem TA. I now work as a research associate at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where I study genomic differences and how they play a role in specific autoimmune diseases. Outside of academics and career, I really enjoy running, baking, and spending time with family and friends! I am really looking forward to this opportunity of working with students again and getting to see them succeed.

Hi everyone! My name is Trinity and I am so excited to continue working with the JUST START team. I am originally from Seattle, Washington but live in the Los Angeles area. I am going into my junior year at UCLA, studying Communications and Entrepreneurship. Beyond academics, I am apart of UCLA Radio, UCLA Campus Tours, UCLA Recreation, and Chi Omega. This past year has been wonderful, having the ability to connect with students and increase their academic success is incredibly rewarding. I cannot wait to continue to support students in finding confidence and comfortability in their academic journey.

Milah P.

Hi! I’m Milah from St. Louis, MO, and I am going into my second year at UCLA where I’m studying business economics and Spanish. I love hiking, biking, cooking & baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends (and dogs, of course!) Since moving to LA, I have loved exploring all of the natural beauty it has to offer, and am always looking for new places to try. I have a ton of experience working in schools and nannying, and have an affinity for working with young people. I was involved with peer tutoring in high school, and it was truly such a gratifying experience building relationships with those who I tutored, and getting to see their joy when their hard work paid off. I think it’s so important to instill confidence in my students, and adapt my advising to fit their learning style best. I understand how frustrating it can be to not get the results you want, so I hope that through positive reinforcement and tailored strategies, every student can find success. I am beyond excited to be apart of the Just Start! family, and make connections with those in my community!

Hi I’m Chloe! I’m so excited to be joining the JS team :) I graduated from UCLA with a double major in Psychology and World, Arts, & Culture. I am currently in graduate school working towards getting my PsyD. I’m super passionate about mental health, fostering life-long skills and making learning enjoyable. Madison A.

My name is Madison, and I'm a passionate and experienced tutor dedicated to helping students of all ages unlock their full potential in mathematics. With a strong background in private tutoring and academic support, I've spent over four years guiding students of all ages ensuring they build a solid foundation and confidence in their math skills.

I am currently a senior at California State University Northridge, where I am earning my bachelors degree in psychology with a minor in biology as a part of my pre-med track. This unique combination of studies has equipped me with deep empathy, patience, and critical thinking skills, allowing me to tailor my teaching approach to each student's individual needs.

My tutoring philosophy is centered around creating a supportive, encouraging space where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Whether your child is just beginning their math journey in kindergarten or tackling the challenges of Algebra 1, I am here to help them succeed. Hi, I’m Sarine! I’m originally from the LA area and am currently a senior at Duke studying International Comparative Studies, creative writing, and human rights. When I’m not in class, you can find me hiking, writing, thrifting, or doing comedy with Duke’s improv team. I have been working with kids and teens for a long time and am so excited to be part of the Just Start team! My subject specialities are English, writing, Spanish, and history. I can’t wait to meet you all :)

I’m passionate about the power of learning and dedicated to helping others succeed, whether it’s mastering challenging math problems or acing big projects. My strengths lie in staying organized and committed, and I’m excited to bring these skills to our tutoring efforts. I look forward to meeting new people and making a positive impact together!

Kimia A.

My name is Kimia. I am a second year student at UCLA, majoring in physiological sciences, with the hopes of attending medical school one day. I am also a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the KKG assistant head of DEI. The subjects that I will be tutoring are middle school math and Spanish up to 9th grade. I recently worked at Keck School of Medicine as a research assistant in the Genetics Department, conducting research on COVID-19. The results of this research were recently published in a medical journal. In my spare time, I love playing volleyball, tennis, and doing Pilates. Also, I’m a foodie and love trying foods of various cultures.

Hii! I’m Deeya, a second year Math & Econ major at UCLA and I’m so excited to be tutoring math, english, economics! I’m also a part of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a professional consulting club, and run club.
